Frequently Asked Questions

Who should join the Docent Research Program?
This program is ideal for inquisitive students who love exploring ideas, writing, and sharpening their academic skills. If you're eager to experience the research and publishing process firsthand, this is for you!

What is the duration of the program?
The program runs over 12 weeks. This timeline excludes approved breaks (for exams, projects, sports, etc.), as long as you give us a heads-up in advance.

How are sessions scheduled, and how is progress shared?
Sessions are planned at times that suit both you and your mentor. To keep parents or guardians in the loop, we also set up a WhatsApp group including the student, mentor, and guardian so everyone’s aware of schedules and progress.

What if I need to reschedule a session?
Life happens—and we totally understand. Rescheduling is possible with at least 24 hours’ notice, and we ask that it’s done no more than twice per month to maintain momentum.

What progress is expected each week?
The program follows a structured, week-by-week roadmap to make sure you stay on track:
Week 1 & 2: Introduction & Topic Selection
Week 3 & 4: Literature Review, Building Yor Hypothesis
Week 5 & 6: Methodology, Research Design, Data Collection Methods
Week 7 & 8: Case Study, Experimentation, Findings & Analysis
Week 9 & 10: Adding References, Sources & Bibliography before Formatting for Submission
Week 11 & 12: Finalize the Paper by Concluding, Editing & Proofreading

This steady flow ensures that the final paper is completed smoothly, step by step.

Do mentors write the paper for students?
Not at all—this is your project. Mentors offer guidance, encouragement, and feedback, but the research and writing are entirely yours.

How do you ensure originality?
Students are expected to submit their own work, with proper references and citations. Academic integrity is a key part of the program.
At the review stage, every paper goes through a plagiarism and AI-use check to ensure the work meets ethical standards before it is considered for publishing.

What happens after the paper is complete?
Once your paper is ready, Docent helps you shortlist suitable journals for publication.
The choice of journal is ultimately yours.
Any publication charges are to be borne individually by the student/family.

Do I receive a certificate?
Yes! Students who complete their paper within the program duration (factoring in approved breaks) receive a Certificate of Completion from Docent.

What’s the biggest benefit of joining?
By the end, you’ll have not only completed a full research paper but also gained valuable skills in research, writing, critical thinking, and navigating the publishing process—skills that will serve you well in high school, college, and beyond.
